Chapter Ten

Gage stared out the window, a shiver racing down his spine. The full moon hung low in the sky, making the tops of the pines glitter. He’d felt… off… for the last few hours. Goose bumps had been covering his arms and legs for some time, and he knew something was coming.

He wasn’t afraid.

Whatever it was felt as if it was a long time coming. Heat filled his body, his cock hard as stone. He’d suffered from that for a few hours as well. No matter how much he willed it to stop, his cock ignored him.

Two names continued to whisper through his mind.

Declan. Ryder.

Either the two were close, or he was going insane. He already dreamed of them touching him nearly every single night. He awoke, his hand on his shaft, seconds before exploding with their names on his lips.

He’d lay there after, his body tense and his breathing shallow as he recovered, and it was then that his guilt swamped him. He’d done the two males wrong and he had no idea how to make it right. Each time he’d asked Garren or Aiden if they’d heard word about his mates, they were close-lipped and only said the males were alive.

If there was anything Gage knew it was that alive wasn’t living.

He went through the motions. There was no doubt in his mind that Declan and Ryder had set up his new position working for Garren and Aiden. He practically did nothing but keep the cabin neat and make a daily meal, which was a huge difference than the job he’d had in Traylon’s silver mine. The menial labor had nearly driven him mad.

Not that tending house was what he wanted to do, either, but if he had to choose, this was better. He had time to read the vast selection of books in Aiden’s library. Garren had spent countless hours teaching Gage the inner workings of the combustion engine and all things car. And if Gage narrowed his eyes a little, Garren looked like Ryder, which for some reason, made him calmer.

His life was better, but not as it should be. He sensed that he was missing something.

A flash moved along the tree line just outside his window. Gage narrowed his eyes and hoped to see what was out there. The moon’s illumination cascaded over everything, a blanket of pale light. Finally his stare pointed to what didn’t belong and it wasn’t one, but two.

Declan. Ryder.

He didn’t know how he knew, but he did.

Gage made his way out to the back porch, hoping they’d approach. Garren and Aiden were gone for the night. His babysitters had recently met a mate of their own. For the first time since arriving, Gage felt as if he were in the way instead of being the help they’d required.

Seeing the two males full of need and desire had made Gage long for his own two bears. If they were here, now, he had to let them know he wanted them.

Oh how he wanted them.
